The Windblown Girl

Ungranted yet? Faith cannot be unanswered;

Her feet were firmly planted on the Rock;

Amid the wildest storm prayer stands undaunted,

Nor quails before the loudest thunder shock.

She knows Omnipotence has heard her prayer,

And cries, “It shall be done,” sometime, somewhere.

“Unanswered Yet”

Building a Strong Foundation of Truth

Rock Solid

COVID 19. Civil unrest. Chaos. Confusion. What are your challenges and how are you coping? Did you ever wish for someone to hold you close and keep you safe? Yet perhaps you feel as alone as I did when I was a young single mom.

My dad was missing in action during the Vietnam war. If he was alive, he was being tortured. As a teen and young adult, I watched repeated replays of our president, John F. Kennedy, being shot. Then his brother, Bobby, and Martin Luther King Jr. were assassinated. The Watts riots took place in Los Angeles about 30 miles from my home. Students were shot at Kent State. America was in turmoil, and so was my personal life.

Then, in 1975, I discovered this Lladro figurine in an exclusive shop in San Juan, Puerto Rico. A mystery about her gave us a celestial connection. But, I wasn’t sure why. I only knew her price tag was way beyond my reach. However, a few years later, I received her as a gift, and she became my most prized possession.

Turbulent times exposed the significance of her imagery. Despite life’s upheaval, she exudes peace, serenity, dignity, and hope. This blog will show how to embrace all that and more. She stands on a rock-solid foundation. That rock is Truth. It’s not relative; it’s real. And, living in the reality of truth about self, sexuality, and social issues is more stabilizing and thrilling than you can imagine. Still, this blog isn’t looking to give you pat answers. Its function is to encourage you to build your life on a foundation of universal truths that we can’t escape no matter how hard we try. Truths such as one day we all die. But in the meantime, we can live beyond ourselves and find peace, love, unity, and respect. In the midst of turmoil, that is greater than  . . . anything. Even death.

Why Social Justice Isn’t Justice

Why Social Justice Isn’t Justice

Sex, Is It Everything or Nothing?

Sex, Is It Everything or Nothing?

Self is a Cruel Master

Self is a Cruel Master

Do you ever wonder who your best self is? Was it that young woman or man in a favorite photo? Well, the one in the upper left corner is a favorite of mine. I was shaking hands with the captain on a Caribbean cruise. Moments later, my relationship with the Norwegian...

At Life’s Intersection

At Life’s Intersection

Are you tired of living in chaos? Do you long for stability and peace?  Then you know how I felt while waiting for a red light to turn green at the intersection of Mission Blvd and Mountain Ave in Ontario, California. Although that's been more than 40 years ago, I'll...

Listen with Love

Do you ever wish you could find someone who listens--really listens? Someone who can enter into your joys and sorrows, bear your griefs, and celebrate your victories. Children tend to do that, but why is it so hard for us adults? Learning to listen with love is the...
