The Windblown Girl

Ungranted yet? Faith cannot be unanswered;

Her feet were firmly planted on the Rock;

Amid the wildest storm prayer stands undaunted,

Nor quails before the loudest thunder shock.

She knows Omnipotence has heard her prayer,

And cries, “It shall be done,” sometime, somewhere.

“Unanswered Yet”

Building a Strong Foundation of Truth

Rock Solid

COVID 19. Civil unrest. Chaos. Confusion. What are your challenges and how are you coping? Did you ever wish for someone to hold you close and keep you safe? Yet perhaps you feel as alone as I did when I was a young single mom.

My dad was missing in action during the Vietnam war. If he was alive, he was being tortured. As a teen and young adult, I watched repeated replays of our president, John F. Kennedy, being shot. Then his brother, Bobby, and Martin Luther King Jr. were assassinated. The Watts riots took place in Los Angeles about 30 miles from my home. Students were shot at Kent State. America was in turmoil, and so was my personal life.

Then, in 1975, I discovered this Lladro figurine in an exclusive shop in San Juan, Puerto Rico. A mystery about her gave us a celestial connection. But, I wasn’t sure why. I only knew her price tag was way beyond my reach. However, a few years later, I received her as a gift, and she became my most prized possession.

Turbulent times exposed the significance of her imagery. Despite life’s upheaval, she exudes peace, serenity, dignity, and hope. This blog will show how to embrace all that and more. She stands on a rock-solid foundation. That rock is Truth. It’s not relative; it’s real. And, living in the reality of truth about self, sexuality, and social issues is more stabilizing and thrilling than you can imagine. Still, this blog isn’t looking to give you pat answers. Its function is to encourage you to build your life on a foundation of universal truths that we can’t escape no matter how hard we try. Truths such as one day we all die. But in the meantime, we can live beyond ourselves and find peace, love, unity, and respect. In the midst of turmoil, that is greater than  . . . anything. Even death.

Finding Great Sex

Finding Great Sex

Who do you think wants you to have the best sex ever? Hmmmm, that's a tough question. Or, is it? The answer may shock you. It's our Creator. He designed our bodies for maximum pleasure. The Lord, our God Himself, created sex to be everything we ever hoped it could be,...

War’s Fierce Winds Are Blowing

War’s Fierce Winds Are Blowing

Recently, hurricane-force winds blew through the Southern California valley where I live. The damage was unexpected. Shocking. Towering old trees fell, uprooted with a force that lifted sidewalks. I saw one that crashed into a house. But the damage was minor compared...

Beyond Prince Charming

Beyond Prince Charming

Why do you suppose so many women read romance novels and/or watch Hallmark movies? It seems most of us want that fairy tale with a special someone. Although they may not watch the movies or read the books, I think most men want the same thing. Most of us long for...

Freedom From Our Fears

Freedom From Our Fears

Are you afraid of something? Maybe COVID? The dark? Being isolated? The unknown? If you are, you're not alone. When I took a two-week trip in 2020 to Whidbey Island in Washington to work on The Windblown Girl: A Memoir about Self, Sexuality, and Social Issues, I...

Better than Sex

Better than Sex

  Do you remember "Better than Sex" cake? I was reminded of it recently while watching "Next Level Chef." Mentor Nyesha Arrington encouraged one of her chefs to "make sexy food." That cake appeared on the social scene in the '70s--about the same time as sex was...

Preparing for 2022

Preparing for 2022

In early 2020, none of us expected a pandemic. It wasn't until March that the virus that came to define much of our lives for the past two years resulted in lockdowns. While ringing in 2021 we didn't expect a capitol riot that turned the political division in our...
